Trends in International Giant Accelerator Experiments and Creeping Quantum Information

Abstract ]

Experimental particle physics using particle accelerators has been the driving force of modern science since the end of World War II and has produced many Nobel Prizes. The glorious history of particle physics has been overshadowed by the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012. Nowadays, accelerators are actively applied to fields other than elementary particles. In such a trend, quantum information and quantum computers, which were originally thought to be unrelated fields, are now becoming an existence that cannot be ignored. In this seminar, we will give an overview of the basic principles of accelerators for non-specialists, the basic concepts of particle physics, and why quantum information can have an impact.
